untitledAdd some spark, pop, and sizzle to your programs this coming year. As many of you know, the Susquehanna Trail District is currently leading the way with the STEM/Nova program, with all boys who attended Day Camp this year earning the NOVA award patch and most earning a “pi” pin, we have also conferred the first Supernova awards in the New Birth of Freedom Council. Now is the time to get involved with this exciting program, if you have someone in your pack or troop who is a science teacher, engineer, doctor, or any other profession relating to science, get them involved by being a Supernova mentor! Below is the Supernova mentor form, when it is completed, please return that form, along with an adult application (if they have not registered with the BSA) to the York or Mechanicsburg Service Centers. The job description is much like a merit badge counselor, and more information on the program can be found here: http://www.scouting.org/stem/awards/aboutnova.aspx .

Also included a flyer from the York County Solid Waste Authority which is offering FREE programs to scout groups. Hint: This can be a quick and easy way to incorporate STEM into your pack or troop’s program and help your boys earn their NOVA awards.
